I intended to write this post about 4 months ago. I penned down my thoughts many times but it dint come out well. Finally, I think I have a satisfactory version of the post. Hope it is useful to you guys. So reeling back in time for about 4 months …
We have reached an important landmark today. We got our first “scalable” customer. Recruiterbox was launched in beta about a year ago. Since then we have grown steadily. Our first customer joined us in less than a month of launching recruiterbox in beta. Groupon china, Levi strauss adopted recruiterbox to manage their hiring processes. Among all these significant events over the last year we consider today the most important. We got a customer that we can scale!
For us, a scalable customer is one that finds our product online, registers for the trial period, and eventually makes a buying decision without any human intervention. The beauty about a client like this, is that we can scale this pattern. If one customer is sold about your value proposition by browsing your website and trying out your product, getting more customers boils down to getting more eyeballs.
We believe this is the secret sauce to success for a productivity software. Especially if it sells for a few tens of dollars a month. This secret sauce is a mixture of the message that stands out on the home page, the message that is communicated on subsequent pages, how you lead the visitor from one page to another, the registration work-flows, getting the user started when they first log into the system etc. Obviously this sauce gets better with time and experimentation. But what is exciting is that we figured out the ingredients that work.
Enough gyan. Am extremely happy and excited we have been successful in getting here. Wish you success in figuring out your secret sauce. You can check out our ingredients at recruiterbox.com
